What your tuition covers.

Six services, included for every Break student. No add-on packages, no tier system. One program; one fee.

  1. 01

One-to-one coaching, calibrated to your child.

Most coaches teach a curriculum. Break starts with the debater your child already is, then builds the curriculum from there.

    • Five 1:1 sessions per season (about five hours of dedicated coach time)
    • Sessions follow the student’s development plan, not a generic syllabus
    • Five competencies tracked: critical thinking, persuasion, speaking, efficiency, strategy
  2. 02

Small reading groups led by working coaches.

Top-circuit debate runs on graduate-level texts. Your child reads them with someone who has competed at that level recently.

    • Four students per group; weekly throughout the season
    • Coaches with active competitive experience leading discussion
    • Continental philosophy, critical theory, policy literature; calibrated to current LD content
  3. 03

Live lectures, twice a week, all season.

Sixty live sessions per season covering the active resolution. Recordings are available, but the conversation happens live.

    • Sixty lectures, twice-weekly cadence across the season
    • Topic-specific: each lecture maps to the current resolution
    • Reflects what coaches are researching that week, not last year
  4. 04

A research staff working for your debater.

Five thousand hours of file production per season. The kind of preparation a single student plus tutor cannot reproduce alone.

    • Aggregate output across the coaching staff: 5,000+ hours per season
    • 50+ topic-specific files produced per cycle
    • Authored by recently-elite competitors actively running the same arguments
  5. 05

A 300-file backfile library, refreshed every summer.

Last year’s arguments lose to this year’s circuit. The foundation library is rebuilt before every new season.

    • 300+ files spanning argument types applicable to every topic
    • Full library revamp before season start
    • Core architectures (kritiks, theory shells, framework structures) kept current
  6. 06

Round-the-clock access to coaches and peers.

When your child needs a strategy check thirty minutes before a round at 9pm, someone is there. The chat is the program’s connective tissue.

    • Twenty-four-hour coach access in a shared chat
    • Direct student-to-student channels for prep coordination
    • Active during tournament weekends and late-night work sessions

Onsite · Tournament Weekends

A coach in the room when it counts.

Break coaches travel to tournaments. The coaching that happens between rounds (the pre‑round briefing, the post‑round breakdown, the strategic adjustment when an unexpected argument appears in round three) is qualitatively different from anything that can be delivered remotely. It is the coaching that actually wins elimination rounds.

Onsite coverage includes pre‑round strategy briefings calibrated to the specific judges in the pairing, real‑time argument adjustment based on what opponents are reading at the tournament, and post‑round breakdowns that turn each loss into prep for the next round. This is real‑time tactical mentorship: coaches functioning as strategic consultants in the field.

In the room.

Enrolling

How a season begins.

Enrollment is August‑only. Students join the full Core Curriculum together so the cohort starts on the same week, the same topic cycle, the same arc.

01

Schedule a discovery call.

A 30‑minute conversation. We’ll learn where the student is in their competitive arc, what they’re working toward this season, and what kind of coach is the right fit. The call is free, and the parent leaves with a clear plan whether or not the student enrolls.

02

Coach matching.

If the program is the right fit, we match the student to a coach based on argument style, format preference, and coaching chemistry. Matching is done by Break’s leadership, not by an algorithm or by whoever is next on a roster. Students meet their proposed coach before enrolling.

03

Season start.

The Break season begins in August. Enrollment is closed mid‑season to protect cohort integrity. Students start together, on the same topic cycle, the same arc. Late‑season transfers are handled case‑by‑case for students whose competitive situation makes the standard timing impossible.

Discovery calls are scheduled by the leadership team, not by a sales department. We don’t have a sales department.
